A total of four unused objects intended for the 100th floor remained in the final version of the game. All of them did in fact appear on the 100th floor; however, they used the graphics originally used in EarthBound, while the unused versions were redrawn in Mother 3's style. WikiBound

Just A Look At Some Of The Games Nintendo Has Allowed On The eShop Rather Than The Mother Games:

Just a sad reminder of the shovelware that Nintendo would rather publish on the eShop rather than two high quality and cult-classic games. Sad, isn't it?

Magicant Is A Stage In SSB3D! Ninten & Loid sighting confirmed!

You see that dimensional rift right there? It shows scenes from the MOTHER trilogy, including one where Ninten is talking to Loid on the roof (MOTHER), and one where Ninten is talking to his dog Mick (MOTHER). I haven't heard anything about a Mother3 sighting of Lucas or anyone, but MOTHER! Could this mean we might finally get MOTHER in the west?

Stay tuned!

Update: As I thought about it, it's actually rather unlikely we'll see a Mother3 scene in the dimensional rift, as Mother3 doesn't have a Magicant location.

MOTHER 1 Bug Fixes

Bread Crumbs

A glitch involving the use of the Bread Crumbs item was fixed for the US prototype and Mother 1+2. One of its main uses is to bypass the rock sealing Giegue's lair, which doesn't normally open until you get the eight melodies, a glitch that has been used in Tool-Assisted Speedruns (TAS) of the Japanese version.

Flea Bag

In the Japanese version, it is possible to abuse the Flea Bag item on R7038XX, dropping his offense to the point where he cannot kill EVE, and after 255 turns the battle automatically ends (as per the game code). As a result, the event for EVE dying and giving you the melody happens, but she also remains in your party – something which isn't supposed to happen, mainly because she's obscenely overpowered.
The US prototype and Mother 1+2 fixed this so that the Flea Bag cannot be used on the indestructible robots.

Did You Know Your MOTHER?

Nintendo of America had translated and originally planned to release Mother in North America, under the title Earth Bound. The localization was completed in 1990, but marketing pushed the release into Fall of 1991, and it was eventually put on indefinite hold. The localization producer and English script writer for Earth Bound, Phil Sandhop, explained, "Once the Super NES squatted in the pipeline and shoved the game aside from its appointed time, I believe that the marketing execs just decided that the game would be too expensive to produce and unsuccessful without marketing, and that's why it fell into oblivion." During localization some changes were made to the game, such as removing blood from enemy sprites (in accordance to Nintendo of America's censorship guidelines of the time) or changing town names. One of the bigger changes was greatly extending the game's ending. Source:Wikipedia

The mysterious "M.D. Seeger", who is credited with the rock guitar on the gas station screen right before the main title screen, is none other than Shigeru Miyamoto himself. But weirdest of all, apparently Miyamoto might not even realize that he had been made into this mysterious foreign guitarist. Source: Starmen.net

Did You Know Your MOTHER?

In Earthbound, the Tonzura Brothers became The Runaway Five. The name and colors of suits were changed to avoid lawsuits over the Blues Brothers (and resulted in a kinda-sorta reference to Mario and Luigi), although "Runaway Five" is an odd name to pick considering that there are six people onstage. Happy Birthday, Ness and Friends!!!

What does MOTHER series creator have to say about the 20th anniversary of the release of MOTHER 2 (EarthBound) in Japan?

“It’s already been 20 years since the release ofEarthbound [Mother 2 in Japanese].
… does that make you happy?
Yes: me too.
No: Then be happy.
Shigesato Itoi,
August 27th, 2014."

Well, Mr. Itoi, I speak for all of us when I say that yes, we are happy.  And let's hope that once MOTHER 1 & 3 are released in the west then we can be just as happy when we look back at their release dates and celebrate their anniversaries.  Translation:  http://siliconera.com/all/2014-08-27-earthbound-celebrates-20th-anniversary-mr-saturn#1Original Source: http://www.1101.com/nintendo/mother_info/index.html

Supposedly leaked Super Smash Bros. 3DS screenshots show the Devil's Car from Mother/EarthBound Zero! Hopefully this part of the leak is truthful, and Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the first game in such a classic series!

A Close Representation of Our Logo for the Month of October, the Launch of Super Smash Bros. 3DS!

I don't think too much will change. Our motto, "WE WANT OUR MOTHERS, NINTENDO!" will need to be added of course, but I think I like how it looks! I did my best as far as letter spacing, but there's only so much I could do to get it like this. What do you think?

Improved Space-themed Logo (More Water Than Land, Like Earth)

Crossed my mind after two seconds that there's more water than land on Earth. Duh! Get it together Josh!

SPAAAAAAAACE-themed Logo!

Figured I would make the EarthBound series logo look like...Earth. Added some "stars" so it looks more space-like! Also downloaded a new font just for this logo.
